Stained Glass Butterfly Small Blue/White Tip Garden Stake

Butterflies to me evoke thoughts of long hot summer days. They have a huge array of translucent and colourful patterns on their wings. Their innate beauty drove the Victorians to collect them from their wild flower fields and pin them into framed picture collections.

I like to reproduce their beautiful colouration and different wing shapes in stained glass instead. This butterfly is made from blue glue chip textured and white streaky glass. The textured glass gives extra depth to the colour, and will give you different shades of blue in different light intensities. The wings are set at a 30 degree angle, to give the piece a three dimensional feel. The body is made from glass globs, which are thick circular bits of glass and help to give the body a strong centre.

All my butterflies are hand crafted from start to finish. From the pattern design which I cut all the glass pieces, through to copper foiling and soldering together. Because of this every one will differ very slightly and have its own ‘character’.

Butterfly garden stakes are ideal for creating a stunning focal point in your garden at any time of year. They are totally frost proof and are easy to move around your garden to fill in any gaps.
