Nuthatches have an understated elegance to both their shape, and colouring. Seen more in rural gardens and woodland settings, they can be quite secretive, quietly working their way around a tree trunk to root out their favourite bugs!
I have used a combination of textured and streaky glasses to represent the beautiful Nuthatch’s markings. Every piece of glass is hand cut, copper foiled and soldered together into my unique design. This form of glass making is called Tiffany stained glass, and allows you to use very small shapes of glass, which can give a greater detail to the finished piece.
The Nuthatch is mounted onto a hand waxed wooden base. This allows you to display the bird any where in the home . . . shelves, bookcases, mantel or windowsills. The underside of the wood is covered in baise to protect any surface it is placed onto.
