Open fields and farmland are the normal habitat for Partridges. Their subtle, yet beautiful markings make this small game bird ideal for re – creating in glass. I have used highly textured brown glasses to represent their amazing feathering on their body, and streaky glasses for the head.
Each bird is hand crafted from start to finish, using the ‘Tiffany’ stained glass method. It allows you to use very small glass shapes that give the detail needed. Firstly the glass is hand cut, then all the pieces are edged in copper foil and soldered together. Because of this process, and the unusual art glasses used, every bird will vary very slightly. It gives each one its own ‘character’!
The Partridge is mounted on to a hand waxed wooden base, allowing it to be displayed anywhere in the home . . . . . . . bookcase, shelves, mantel or windowsill. The underside of the wood is covered in baise to protect any surface it is placed on.
