Often thought of as secretive animals, because of their nocturnal lives, badgers are starting to encroach into more suburban areas. And feeding them in your garden allows people to see them closer than ever before. Whilst not loved by everyone, their black and white stripey markings are certainly striking and there is no mistaking one!
I use a fantastic glass called “Spirit,” which has amazing black and white marbling to it, for the main body markings. Each sheet of glass is unique in its pattern, and so every Badger will differ very slightly. The eyes are dark brown and are real glass too, they add real character and soul to the piece – they do really seem to be looking back at you!!
My design is hand cut, copper foiled and soldered together in the traditional method of Tiffany Stained Glass. But the simplicity of the lines in the pattern give it a very contemporary feel and a great piece of fun animal sculpture for your home.
Every Badger is mounted on to a lovely grained waxed wooden base. The underside of the wood is covered in baise to protect the surface it is placed on.
The wood base allows the Badger to be displayed in any number of situations – bookcases, shelves, mantels and windowsills to name just a few!
