Running Hare on Wood

From March onwards, beautiful brown hares can be seen running and boxing in the lengthening days and sunny crisp mornings. My running hare is made using very striking textured and streaky amber glass. It is great for reflecting the markings and movement of these wonderful creatures. The use of this glass also means every hare is slightly different in appearance and so will be a unique piece every time. I design the pattern from which the pieces of glass are cut, and then the edges are ground and copper foil is applied, before soldering together. I use glass eyes , which really gives the impression the hare is looking back at you!

Every hare is attached to a lovely highly grained waxed wooden base, with baise on the bottom to protect the surface it is placed on. The base allows the hare to be displayed  anywhere in your home – mantle piece, shelf, windowsill or bookcase for example.
