Stained Glass Puffin on Wood

Puffins are just so adorable! I finally got to see these beautiful birds last year, when I visited the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs, East Yorkshire. Although much smaller in size than I was expecting, they have such character and presence – as shown by the many visitors captivated for hours watching them. The large bright beaks and feet create a real contrast against their black and white plumage, and so make a great subject to create in stained glass!

My Puffins are made using a combination of streaky and heavily textured glasses. Each one is hand cut, copper foiled and soldered together, and finished with a blue glass eye for a very realistic representation of one of my favourite birds!

The Puffin is mounted on a waxed wood base, which allows it to be displayed anywhere in the home . . . . . . bookshelf, windowsill, mantel or any flat surface where light can pass through it.
