Liven up your walls in the garden or conservatory with this fabulous stained glass butterfly. Made using textured and streaky glass, with glass ‘globs’ for the body and head. The beautiful purple glass has veining running through it, and the streaky white glass on the wing edges closely resemble marking to that of real butterflies. The glass globs are chunky and rounded, they help to add a three dimensional feel to the body. Each butterfly also has antennae added to the head.
The butterflies are hand crafted from start to finish. Because of this, each one will differ very slightly. Glass is hand cut from my pattern and then the edges are ground to make them smooth. Copper foil is added to all the pieces and then they are soldered together. The wings are made separately, as is the body, and then added at the last stage of soldering, set at a thirty degree angle to the body, so the piece is not flat.
The back of the body has a strong wire hook, and so is ready to hang up on arrival.
